6E1-16 ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM (G13/G16 ENGINE WITHOUT WU TWC)
DIAGNOSTIC FLOW TABLE
STEP
Does malfunction indicator lamp ("CHECK
1 ENGINE" light) turn ON when ignition switch is
turned ON (without starting engine)?
1) Start engine and check malfunction indicator
lamp ("CHECK ENGINE" light).

2) Does malfunction indicator lamp ("CHECK
ENGINE" light) turn OFF?
Does malfunction indicator lamp ("CHECK

ENGINE" light) flash?
Does the flashing pattern of malfunction indica-
tor lamp ("CHECK ENGINE" light) indicate DTC?

Does engine start?

1) Using service wire, ground diagnosis switch
terminal in diagnosis connector-1.
2) Does malfunction indicator lamp ("CHECK
6 ENGINE" light) flash?
1) Check DTC, referring to "DIAGNOSTIC
TROUBLE CODE(S) CHECK" in this section.
NOTE:
If engine fails to start, crank it for 2 se-
conds and then while keeping ignition

switch ON (Don't turn it OFF), check DTC.
2) [Using SUZUKI scan tool]
Is "NO CODES" displayed?
[Not using SUZUKI scan tool]
Is DTC 12 indicated?
ACTION YES
Go to Step 2.
Normal operation.
Flashes
Go to Step 4.
Diagnosis switch terminal
(in diagnosis connector-1)
circuit shorted to ground.
Repair or replace.
Proceed to "Table A-2

Go to Step 7.
