Check transmission range signal referring to "B-8
TRANSMISSION RANGE SIGNAL CHECK (4 A/T
8 VEHICLE ONLY)" or "B-12 TRANSMISSION
RANGE SIGNAL CHECK (3 A/T VEHICLE ONLY)".
Is it in good condition?
Check IAC system referring to step 11 of this table.

Is check result satisfactory?
Was IAC duty more than about 30% or :40% (or
less than 70% or :60% for OFF duty meter) in
step 1 of this table?

NOTE:
Duty value with (:) are applicable to vehicle
used at high altitude (higher than 2000 m or
6560 ft).
1) Remove IAC valve from throttle body referring
to "IAC VALVE" in this section.
2) Check IAC valve for operation referring to "IAC
11
VALVE" in this section.
Is check result satisfactory?
1) Turn ignition switch OFF.
2) Disconnect IAC valve coupler.
3) Check for proper connection to IAC valve at
each terminals.
4) If OK, disconnect ECM (PCM) couplers.

5) Check for proper connection to ECM (PCM) at
A22 terminal.
6) If OK, check "R/B", "R/Y" and "B" circuit for open
and short.
Are they in good condition?

ACTION YES
Go to Step 9.
Go to Step 10.
Check parts or system
which can cause
engine low idle.
– Accessory engine
load
– Clog of air passage
– Etc.
Intermittent trouble or
faulty ECM (PCM).
Recheck for referring to
"INTERMITTENT
TROUBLE" in Section
0A.
Replace IAC valve and
recheck.
NO
Repair or replace.
Go to Step 12.
Substitute a known-good
ECM (PCM) and recheck.
Go to Step 3.
Repair or replace.
