INSPECTION
BRUSH
D Check brushes for wear.
Measure length of brushes and if below limit, replace brush as-
sembly.

D Check for smooth movement with the brushes installed to each
brush holder.
SPRING
Inspect brush springs for wear, damage or other abnormal condi-
tions. Replace brush assembly if necessary.
Brush spring tension
Standard : 23.4 – 31.6 N (2.34 – 3.16 kg, 5.15 – 7.0 Ib)
Limit : 10.0 N (1.0 kg, 2.2 Ib)
PERFORMANCE TEST
CAUTION:
Each test must be performed within 3 – 5 seconds to
avoid coil from burning.
1) Pull-In Test
NOTE:
Before testing, disconnect motor lead wire from terminal
'M'.
Connect battery to magnetic switch as shown.
Check that plunger and pinion (over-running clutch) move out-
ward.
If plunger and pinion (over-running clutch) don't move, replace
magnetic switch.
