INSPECTION
STEP
1
Engine Idle Speed and IAC Duty Check
1) Check idle speed / idle air control duty referring to "Idle
Speed/ Idle Air Control Duty Inspection" in section 6E4.
Is check result as specified?

Idle Air Control Valve Check
1) Turn headlight, heater blower and / or rear defogger
ON.
Is idle speed kept specified speed?

Air Intake System Check
1) Check air intake system for clog and air inhaling.
2) Check fast idle plunger length referring to "Fast Idle
Control System Inspection" in section 6E4.
Are above check result satisfactory?

Idle Air Control Valve Operation Check
1) Check idle air control valve for operation referring to
"Idle Air Control Valve Operation Check" in DTC P0505
Diag. Flow Table section.
Is check result satisfactory?

Idle Air Control Valve Check
1) Check idle air control valve for resistance and
operation referring to "Idle Air Control Valve Check" in
DTC P0505 Diag. Flow Table section.
Is check result satisfactory?

Air Conditioning (A / C) Signal Check
1) Check A / C signal circuits referring to Table B-5 A / C
Signal Circuit Check, if equipped. (A / C signal can be
also checked by using SUZUKI scan tool.)
Is it in good condition?

Check Parts or System Which Can Effect Idle Speed / IAC
Duty:
– Accessary engine road
– EGR valve malfunction (leakage)
– EVAP system malfunction (leakage)
– Engine mechanical (Compression)
– TP sensor performance
– ECT sensor performance
– Stuck of PCV valve
Are they in good condition?

Idle Air Adjusting Screw Check
1) Adjust idle speed and idle air control duty referring to
"Idle Speed / Idle Air Control Duty Adjustment" in
Section 6E4.
Are specified idle speed and idle air control duty
obtained?
ACTION
YES
Go to Step 2.
Go to Step 3.
System is in good
Go to Step 4.

Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace.
Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.
"R / B" or "R" circuit
Clean or replace,
open or short.

If wire and
connections are OK,
substitute a known-
good ECM and
recheck.
Go to Step 7.
Repair or replace
A/ C signal circuits
or A / C system.
Go to Step 8.
Repair or replace.
Idle air adjusting
Clog of idle air
