Configuring Direct
Connections to RMX

Management Network (Primary)

Alternate Management Network
Direct connection to the RMX is necessary if you want to:
Modify the RMX's Factory Default Management Network settings
without using the USB key.
Connect to the RMX's Alternate Management Network for support
purposes.
Connect to the RMX via a modem.
If you do not want to use the USB key method of modifying the RMX's
Management Network parameters, it is necessary to establish a direct
connection between a workstation and the RMX.
The Alternate Management Network enables direct access to the RMX for
support purposes.
While being separate from all other networks, it has identical
functionality to the Management Network.
Support personnel can log in and used it to manage the RMX if a
connection to the Management Network cannot be made or if internet access
to the host network is blocked by LAN security or a firewall.
The Alternate Management Network cannot be configured and operates
according to factory defaults.
