Section 9: LAN concepts and settings
To use the LAN RESET switch to select manual mode using fixed settings:
1. If the instrument power is on, turn it off. You set the LAN RESET switch as the instrument powers
on.
2. Insert a straightened paper clip into the recessed LAN RESET switch on the 2606B front panel,
pressing and holding the switch while you turn the instrument on.
3. Continue pressing the LAN RESET switch until the CHAN A and CHAN B indicators on the front
panel illuminate briefly.
4. Release the LAN RESET switch. The LAN status indicator flashes twice to confirm the fixed LAN
configuration settings.
5. Connect remotely to the web interface of the instrument by typing 192.168.0.2 into the URL
field of your web browser. When you are connected, the web interface is displayed.
6. In the navigation panel on the left side of the screen, select IP Configuration.
7. Select Modify. You may be prompted to log in using a password. The default password is "" (an
empty string).
8. Enter your LAN configuration settings and select Submit.
Configuring the Domain Name System (DNS)
The Domain Name System (DNS) lets you type a domain name in the address bar to connect to the
instrument. If you use DNS, you can use a name instead of an IP address.
Example:
Model2606B.XYZcompany.com
Contact your corporate information technology (IT) department for information about DNS. If a DNS
server is not part of the LAN infrastructure, do not use this setting.
To enable or disable DNS host name verification:
1. From the virtual front panel, press the MENU key, and then select LAN > CONFIG > DNS
> VERIFY.
2. Turn the navigation wheel to select either ENABLE or DISABLE. When enabled, the instrument
performs a DNS lookup to verify the DNS host name matches the value specified in the
lan.config.dns.hostname
3. Press the ENTER key.
4. Press the EXIT (LOCAL) key twice to return to the LAN CONFIG menu.
