Chapter E - C-ARM AND IMAGING ARM
Calculate the line length using the formula A x 0.132mm = B, where A is the distance in pixels
and B is distance in millimetres. Enter the value B (line length in millimetres) to the Reference
distance window and click OK.
Now you can measure the distances on the left and middle images as follows.
a)
To draw a center line to the left and middle images first determine the middle point of the left
and middle image by drawing a straight vertical line through the whole image and
checking its width (see Fig. 86, 1) and dividing it by two.
b)
On the LEFT IMAGE: Draw a vertical line to the middle point (see Fig. 86, 2). This is the
center line of the image.
Draw a vertical line to the center of the rear middle ball (see Fig. 86, 3).
Measure the distance between the center line of the middle ball and the center line of the
image (see Fig. 86, 4).
c)
On the MIDDLE IMAGE: Draw vertical line to the middle point (see Fig. 86, 5). This is the
center line of the image.
Draw a vertical line to the center of the rear (upper) (see Fig. 86, 6) and to the front (lower)
ball (see Fig. 86, 7).
Measure the distance between the center line of the rear ball and the image center line (see
Fig. 86, 8) and the center line of the front ball and the image center line (Fig. 86, 9).
Figure 86
NOTE
The sign of the input value is always plus (+) if the ball is located on the right of the
center line and minus (-) if the ball is located on the left of the center line.
d)
The image located on the right (the patient's LEFT side) determines the LEFT coordinate
value and the image located on the MIDDLE determines the UPPER (upper, i.e. rear ball)
and LOWER (lower, i.e. front ball) coordinate values to input into the patient alignment menu.
