This chapter provides important considerations when using a robot with the Cleanroom
option.

10.1 Cleanroom Option Classification

The eCobra robots are available in Class 10 Cleanroom, and ISO Class 4 models.
This option is a factory-installed configuration. Changes to the robot include the addition of a
bellows assembly mounted at the Joint 3 quill, fully-sealed access covers, and a two-stage
vacuum system to evacuate the arm. This vacuum system incorporates a compressed air
vacuum generator mounted in the base of the robot to provide a high vacuum in the outer link
and bellows area.
IMPORTANT: You must use an additional high flow rate vacuum source to
evacuate the inner link and base.
An eCobra 600 with the Cleanroom option is shown in the figure below.

10.2 User Requirements to Meet Cleanroom Rating

The following table lists the vacuum and compressed air source requirements to meet the
Cleanroom rating.
