For models with automatic gearbox
– Replace the needle bearing -arrow- in the crankshaft
⇒ "3.3 Replace needle bearing for crankshaft", page 57
– Attach the selector lever control cable at the gearbox ⇒ Gear‐
box; Rep. gr. 34 .
Continued for all vehicles
– Installing the gearbox ⇒ Gearbox; Rep. gr. 34 .
– Install gearbox support bracket.
– Take up engine/gearbox unit with the engine mount T10497 .
– Position engine/gearbox unit with the engine mount - T10497-
on the engine and gearbox jack - V.A.G 1383 A- .
Note
Replace screws which have been tightened firmly to a torque

angle.
Replace self-locking nuts and screws as well as gasket rings,
♦
gaskets and O-rings.
Secure all hose connections with hose clamps which comply
♦
with the series design ⇒ Electronic Catalogue of Original
Parts"ETKA."
♦ All cable straps should be fastened again in the same place
when installing.
– Insert engine/gearbox unit into the body.
– Initially insert screws -arrows- for engine mount by hand as far
as the stop.
