Holding the inner and outer tubes together, invert the fork and pour out the fork oil into a suitable container.

Return the fork to the fork holding tool.
7.
Counterhold the top cap to prevent it from turning and loosen the top cap lock nut.
8.
Remove the top cap.
9.
Fit a suitable ring spanner over the spring guide and seat it onto the taper section of the spring guide.
While compressing the fork spring always wear protective equipment for the face and eyes and never look
directly down on the fork. If the spring compressor should dislodge or detach, the resulting release of spring
tension could cause parts to fly off resulting in injury to the user.
10.
While supporting the fork inner tube, press down on the spanner to compress the spring and remove the nut
and washer.
11.
Remove the spanner used to compress the spring.
Note
Between the spring and the spring guide there could be one or more spacers fitted.
12.
Remove the spring guide, collecting the spring preload spacer(s) as you do so.
13.
Remove the spring.
14.
Remove the fork from the fork holding tool.
Note
Ensure that the inner damping rod is retained in position when inverting the fork assembly.
15.
Holding the inner and outer tubes together, invert the fork and pour out any remaining fork oil into a suitable
container. Pump the damper rod to remove all the oil.
16.
Ensuring that the inner damping rod is retained, invert the fork and return it to the fork holding tool.
17.
Raise the inner tube and remove the dust seal from the outer tube.
