Transmission Control Bracket Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the control assembly. Refer to "Shift Control
Replacement" removal procedure in this section.
2. Remove the transaxle control bracket and bolts.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the transaxle control bracket.
CAUTION

Refer to "Fastener Notice: " in Cautions and
Notices.
Automatic Transmission:
2. Install the transaxle control bracket bolts.
Tightening torque
Tighten the transaxle control bracket bolts to 25
N⋅m (18 lb ft).
3. Install the control assembly. Refer to "Shift Control
Replacement" installation procedure in this section.
Shift Control Cable Replacement
Special tool
J 36346 Fascia Retainer Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR)
system. Refer to "SIR Disabling and Enabling: ".
3. Remove the battery tray. Refer to "Battery Tray
Replacement: ".
4. Using the J 36346, disconnect the shift control cable
(1) from the transaxle range switch lever (4).
5. Depress the shift control cable retainer clip tabs (2)
and remove the shift control cable from the shift
control cable bracket (3).
6. Remove the shift control lever knob. Refer to
"Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement".
7. Remove the console. Refer to "Console
Replacement: ".
8. Ensure that the shift control range select lever is in
the park (P) position.
