Ensure sensor connector is secure.
Disconnect ECM and proceed to
pinpoint test 1:-

Short circuit to ground
Disconnect sensor and proceed to
pinpoint test 6:-

1 Check cable and terminal integrity:
OK
Proceed to test 2

- ECM pin A22
Faulty
Rectify fault, proceed to test 7
- ECM pin A07
2 Check resistance value:
OK
Disconnect temp sensor and proceed to test 6
- ECM pin A22 to ECM pin A07
(Temperature dependent - see below)
Open circuit
Disconnect temp sensor and proceed to test 3
Short circuit
Disconnect temp sensor and proceed to test 4
3 Check cable continuity:
OK
Proceed to test 5
- ECM pin A22 to sensor pin 1
Open circuit
Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to test
- ECM pin A07 to sensor pin 2

4 Check cable for short circuit:
OK
Proceed to test 5
- ECM pin A22 to ECM pin A07
Short circuit
Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to test
7
5 Check sensor resistance:
OK
Proceed to test 7
(
- Sensor pin 1 to sensor pin 2
Faulty
Renew temp sensor, proceed to test 7
(Temperature dependent - see below)
6 Check cable for short circuit:
OK
Proceed to test 7
- ECM pin A22 to ground
Short circuit
Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to test
7
7 Reconnect harness, clear fault code and run OK
Action complete - quit test
engine to verify fault cleared
Fault still present
