Fuel Requirements
Fuel Requirements - all countries except USA
Outside America, the Rocket III must be run on 91 RON
or higher unleaded ruel.
Fuel Requirements - USA
In the United States or America where the octane rating or
ruel is measured in a dirrerent way, the roll owing
inrormation may be applied: the Rocket III is designed to
run on un leaded gasoline with a CLC or AKI octane rating
(R+M)/2 or 87 or higher.
Note:
• If 'Knocking' or 'Pinking' occurs at a steady
engine speed under normal load, use a
different brand of gasoline or a higher octane
rating.

gasoline will cause damage to emissions control
components.
Oxygenated Gasoline
To help in meeting clean air standards, some areas or the
U.s. use oxygenated gasoline to help reduce harmrul
emissions. The Rocket III will give best performance when
using un leaded gasoline. However, the rollowing should
be used as a guide to the use or oxygenated ruels.
Because or the generally i volatility or oxygenated
ruels, starting, engine response and ruel consumption
may be adversely affected by their use. Should any or
these dirriculties be experienced, run the motorcycle on
normal unleaded gasoline.
Ethanol
Ethanol ruel is a mixture or 10% ethanol and 90%
gasoline and is often described under the names
'gasohol', 'ethanol enhanced', or 'contains ethanol'. This
ruel may be used in Triumph motorcycles.
Methanol
Fuels containing methanol should not be used in
Triumph motorcycles as damage to components in the
ruel system can be caused by contact with methanol.
Fuel System/Engine Management
MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether)
The use or gasolines containing up to 15% MTBE (Methyl
Tertiary Butyl Ether) is permitted in Triumph motorcycles.
