Modem Switch Settings

If your installation requires a modem, allowing you to remotely link to the
library, see
Note: Most modem settings can be done with DIP switches within the modem.

Table A-2. Modem Switch Settings

Configuration
Carrier Detect (CD) to remote system
Data Set Ready (DSR) complies with CCITT, Clear To Send (CTS)
always ON. (This setting does not appear on all modems.)
Long form result code
Auto answer
Auto-reliable mode
Enable remote access. (This setting does not appear on all modems.)
Data Terminal Ready (DTR)
Disable rate adjust

Serial Device or Laptop Computer Entries

If your modem does not permit setup through DIP switch settings:
1. Set your serial device or laptop computer to:
• 38,400 baud
• Eight bits
• No parity bit
• One stop bit
2. Power on the modem.
3. Connect the RJ-45 cable from your device to the modem.
4. Enter "dumb terminal mode" on your device.
5. Enter AT, then press <
displaying OK on the screen of your serial device or laptop computer. If it
does not, inspect all cable connections and make sure the cables and
connectors have the correct part numbers.
6. From your keyboard, enter:
AT&F&W and press <
