Enabling dWWN

The dWWN feature (default set to OFF) is enabled through the CLI interface
and, once enabled, the library must be IPLed.
CAUTION:
Changing the dWWN feature must be coordinated with the system
administrator. The feature is usually enabled at installation time.
A record of the configuration should be kept; this is not only something
that should always be done, but it absolutely essential with the dWWN
feature to eliminate system issues in the case of an MPC/MPCL failure.
To enable dWWN:
1. Through the CLI interface, type in
a. wwn xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
b. Type in wwn enable and press ENTER.
2. IPL the library.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a protocol for assigning
dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network. With dynamic addressing, a
device can have a different IP address every time it connects to the network.
With tape and tape automation, it is best that the library and tape drives keep
the same (consistent) address. Currently set to DISABLED.

Ethernet Address

The Ethernet address is burned into programmable read-only memory (PROM)
at the factory. It is automatically displayed when you enter the network
configuration menu. It cannot be changed.
95896
With firmware version 3.04, you cannot mix dWWN-supported and
non-dWWN supported drives when the dWWN feature is enabled on
the library. In such a case, non-supported drives remain in the
"configuring" state on the library operator panel.
(where "xxx:xxx:xxx:xxx" equals the 12-digit serial number of the
library—located on the agency approval sticker of the library). Be sure
that each 3-digit group is separated by a colon.
