Fibre Channel Safety Precautions

When installing, connecting, and working with Fibre Channel devices, read and
observe the information in
WARNING:
Eye hazard. Never look directly into a fiber-optic cable, a fiber-optic
connector, or a laser transceiver module. Hazardous conditions might
exist from laser power levels that are capable of causing injury to the
eye.

Connecting the Library

To connect the library to a Fibre Channel interface:
1. Make sure that the library power switches are in the OFF (down) position.
2. Route the library's fiber-optic cable through the cable access hole in the
library floor near the power bulkhead (see
If necessary, route this cable up through the floor in the library's rack to
connect to a Fibre Channel hub or switch. Then route a cable from this
equipment back down through the floor of the library's rack.
3. Leaving a six-inch service loop, wrap the cable at least 360× clockwise
around the control-path strain relief on the library's electronics module
bulkhead.
4. Connect the fiber cable to the MPU card, at the lower right of the electronics
module bulkhead.
Note: The MPU card must be placed in the lower slot on the MPV card.
