File Types

Before using one of the methods described in the section above, determine
which firmware file type you wish to download:
Note: L180 microcode supports both the L180 and L700/L700e Tape Libraries.
CAUTION:
Incorrect file type: The mpbxyyzz.prm file can only be loaded into an
L700e library pair joined by a PTP. The L180 library does not support this
file type.

MPC 3.xx
MPC CLI port only, using

Notes:
1. 2.xx release.prm files used a Level 1 download header. For compatibility, 3.00 firmware uses a Level
1 header also. This allows 2.xx firmware to load 3.00 firmware. Version 3.00 or later firmware can
accept wither a Level 1 or 2 download header. Starting with 3.01 and later, a Version 2 header will be
used to ensure correct loading into the MPC/MPCL card.
2. Where mpc or mpb are the card designators and "xyyzz" is the firmware revision: "x" denotes the
major revision number, "yy" is the minor revision number, and "zz" is the build number. For example,
MPC revision 3.01.24 would be represented as mpc30124.prm.
3. Once a Version 2 header file is loaded into the MPC card, the only way to revert to a Version 1 level is
by using the CLI port "download old" command. A Version 2 header file locks the firmware file type to
the card type. Ensure that MPC firmware only downloads to the MPC card. A download will fail if you
try to download MPC firmware into the MPB card; likewise, trying to load MPB firmware into the MPC
card will result in failure.

For the L180 you only need to download the MPC/MPCL firmware, use
the mpcxyyzz.prm file.
