Audit

Audit
The next step during initialization is the audit of the library.
Note: The audit process requires five minutes.
An audit is the process of checking each cell within a library. If a cell contains a
tape, the camera reads the VOLSER label and transfers this data to the MPC/
MPCL card, calculates the robotic position of the hand, and catalogs the location
by:
• VOLSER
• SCSI element number or panel, row, column
If a user cell is empty, the location is recorded as "cell empty."
Note: Cartridges left in drives will not be audited.

Audit Conditions

An audit begins when:
• You power-on the library
• You press the
• You open and close the library front door
• A system request to audit the library is entered at the client console

Drive Targeting

The robot moves to each drive and calculates the position of the drive's target.
This ensures accurate loading of tapes during machine operation. For DLT
drives, the load handles are checked for "in flux" conditions. Any handles found
to be in flux will be lowered by the MPC/MPCL card.

Audit of Reserved Cells

After drive targeting, the robot audits the six cells of the reserved area, below
the cartridge access port (CAP). Reserved cells are checked for cleaning
cartridges (which will automatically configure the auto clean option) and for
diagnostic test cartridges.
If the library contains no DLT drives, this is the final initialization step.

Load Handling Cycling

If DLT drives are present and they require cycling of the load handles, all
handles are raised to the loading position. This is the final initialization step.
