Cartridges and Labels

Depending on which drives and which cartridges the customer has ordered,
you might need to help the customer sort out labels and cartridges:
• To match cartridges with their proper labels
• To distinguish between different types of cartridges
• To distinguish data cartridges from diagnostic and cleaning cartridges
Keep the following notes in mind about cartridge labels:
• All cleaning cartridges have "CLN" somewhere on their labels.
• All diagnostic cartridges have "DG" as the first two characters of their
• DLT cartridges have "C", "D", and "E" in there labels depending on the tape.
• LTO cleaning cartridges have different labels that identify the vendor.
• LTO data and diagnostic cartridges have labels that are unique.
• T9840 cleaning cartridges have a "U" on their labels.
• T9840 diagnostic and data cartridges have an "R" on their labels.

Starter Kits

StorageTek created starter kits to help customers populate their library. Starter
kits have pre-labeled cartridges with number ranges that are unique for each
kit.
Notes: The following information applies to the starter kits and tables on the
• StorageTek does not supply labels to customers. They may order them
• StorageTek does, however, supply pre-labeled cartridges for customers
• Pre-labeled LTO cartridges are available only in 100 GB capacity.
• Cleaning and diagnostic kits contain one labeled cleaning cartridge and
