CAUTION:
Controller card damage: Make sure that all activity is stopped before
loading microcode or controller card damage will occur. Do not open
and close a library's access door during the procedure. Do not press the
operator panel's RESET button.
CLI Port—DOS Method
To download the firmware:
1. Connect the RJ-45 serial cable to the CSE port on the MPC/MPCL card.
2. Open a DOS window on your PC.
3. Create a directory on the C drive (mk dir).
4. Insert the firmware diskette into the personal computer.
5. Change to the directory on the diskette drive (cd directory name).
6. Copy the flash97.exe program and the firmware file release.prm to
the directory you created on the C drive (copy flash.exe c:/directory
name and copy release.prm c:/directory name).
7. From the directory on your personal computer, type in:
flash97 release.prm
8. When prompted, enter the port number being used on the personal
computer (generally port 1) and press <Enter>.
CAUTION:
Equipment Damage: Do not attempt to perform any operations on the
personal computer or library until the operator panel displays DOWNLOAD
COMPLETE. Damage to the MPC/MPCL card may occur if you do not wait
for the process to complete.
9. After several seconds, the personal computer will display and update the
number of bytes being sent. The download takes about 20 minutes.
10. The operator panel will display DOWNLOADING.
11. After the personal computer displays FILE TRANSFER COMPLETED
SUCCESSFULLY, the operator panel will display DOWNLOAD COMPLETE.
Wait for this sequence to complete.
