Daisy-Chain Connection

Figure 7-7 on page 7-11
using a variety or connection types, including:
• Direct connection from a client to a tape drive
• Daisy chain connection using a short cable 25.4 cm (10 in.)
• Daisy chain connection using a long cable 46 cm (18 in.)
• Daisy chain connection from the library to a tape drive 213 cm (84 in.)
Important!
For best performance, StorageTek recommends connecting a maximum of two
devices per daisy chain. Performance will decrease as you increase the number
of drives in a chain.
For installations with daisy-chain data path connections:
1. Route the cable up through the cable access hole in the library floor near
the drive bulkhead.
2. Connect the cable to the first connector of the first drive.
3. For a short daisy-chain connections (drive to drive):
a. Install either cable PN 313109302 or PN 310292001 from the second
b. Continue the chain until you reach the last drive on the chain.
c. Install a terminator on the last drive connector.
4. For a long daisy-chain connections (library to drive):
a. Install cable PN 313115701 between the library and a tape drive.
b. Connect one end of the cable to the second connector of the drive.
c. Route the cable down through the cable access hole on the floor near
