6. Power-up the scanner or scanner/scale by connecting the
power cord to an AC power outlet. Wait for the unit to com-
plete the Self test routine (10 seconds maximum). Successful
scanner power-up is signified by any or all of the following:
•
- Facet wheel shows movement
•
- Lasers turn on
•
- Status LED(s) turn on
•
- Speaker sounds tone(s)
•
- Remote display [if present] shows message
•
- A single red dot is visible on the 7-segment display
7. Power-up the POS terminal. Verify that scanning, deactivation
and weighing functions are operational and that data is prop-
erly communicated between the scanner and your POS system.
(Scan, deactivate and weigh a few items.) If problems are
encountered, refer to
8. You have now completed installation and system integration
of the scanner or scanner/scale. At this point, the scale must
be calibrated and certified in accordance with the require-
ments of your state and/or local requirements. Refer to
Chapter 5,
Calibration, for calibration procedures.
