Speech Server Restore Procedure

1. Remove the spare disk from the second drive bay on the Speech Server. Ensure that the
spare disk is of the same engine type as the failed disk.
2. Disconnect the failed Speech Server node from the network.
3. Remove the defective disk from the drive bay on the failed Speech Server.
4. Put the spare disk removed in step 1 into the first drive bay on the failed Speech Server.
5. Configure the Speech Server.
6. You must change the Speech Server IP address to the correct IP address of the failed
Speech Server.
• For Windows 2003: Select Start > Control Panel > Network Connection. Select
Connection > Properties > Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) > Properties. Modify the IP
address to that of the failed Windows server. Do not restart.
• For Windows 2008: Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and
Sharing Center > Change adapter settings. Select Local Area Connection >
Properties > Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) > Properties. Modify the IP address to that of
the failed Windows server. Do not restart.
7. Change the Speech Server node name to the node name of the failed Speech Server.
• Windows 2003: Select Start > Control Panel > System > Computer Name. Click on the
Change tab.
• Windows 2008 R2: Select Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System >
Advanced system settings > Computer Name. Click on the Change tab.
8. Ensure that C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts on the Speech Server contains the
correct IP and node name. Change the Speech Server IP address to the correct IP address
of the failed Speech Server.
9. Change the Speech Server component number on the system to the component number of
the failed Speech Server.
10. Change the directory names of %MPSHOME%\oscarN to reflect the directory for the
component of the failed Speech Server, where N is the number of the failed Speech Server
component.
11. Modify %MPSHOME%\common\etc\vpshosts so that the local Speech Server component
numbers reflect the component numbers of the failed Speech Server.
12. Update %MPSHOME%\common\etc\vpshosts and C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
on the Speech Server to point to the appropriate MPS AP and MPS components.
13. Reboot.
