MPS System Installation Checklist and Report
7. Make backup copies of the /etc/hosts, /etc/ethers, /etc/hostname.XXX, and any other files
that can be modified during the installation process.
8. Open MPS Manager and confirm that all components are in green status and that all items
are running in the srp status before you make any system modifications.
9. Verify that the tape unit is operational with a sample tar, if applicable.
10. Verify that the CD-ROM drive is functioning by reading a CD.
11. Verify that the licensing matches the SDP for licenses ordered.

AP and LAN Configuration (Site specific)

1. □ Modify the /etc/hosts, /etc/ethers, /etc/hostname.XXX, and any other files that need to be
modified to match the external LAN ports to the customer LAN Diagram received during the
presite survey.
2. □ Configure the system for the provided netmasks, routers, and gateways.
3. □ After you reboot the system, verify the LAN card configuration with the ifconfig –a
command. Check for IP addresses and masking.
4. □ Verify the route table with the netstat –r command.
5. □ Issue a ping command to the router, then to a device beyond the router.
6. □ Verify that MPS Manager still shows the status of all devices is green.

AP and System Testing

1. □ Follow the Field Factory Test Guide and Installation Guide to:
a. Install the proper loopback plugs on all TMS as directed.
b. Point the License Server to the temporary test license as directed.
c. Run the test as directed. This test verifies all the installed hardware: TMS, DSP, the
cabling to the patch panel, and so on.
d. After testing is complete, remove all loopback plugs.
e. Redirect the License Server back to the original customer license file as directed.
f. Verify that the licenses match the ones shown in the SDP using the plicmon command.
After the License Server starts, check that the plservrc file can be read without error.
Use the command, plicmon hostname.
2. □ Follow the Installation Guide to:
a. □ Run any recommended test that is valid for this AP and OS release.
