Removing, Replacing, and Adding Assemblies

Caution:
The following paragraphs contain basic procedures to remove and replace hardware
assemblies. Depending on your system configuration, environment, and operating conditions,
consider additional factors (for example, electrostatic discharge [ESD]). These procedures must
be performed only by qualified maintenance personnel.
Note:
Screws, washers, or other hardware removed during the following procedures must be saved
for reassembly.

Replacing a Front Control Panel (FCP)

1. Remove the screws holding the FCP in the rack with the #1 Phillips screwdriver.
2. Ease the FCP part way out of the rack and disconnect the cables on the back.
3. Install a new FCP in the rack.

Removing and Replacing a TMS or MDM

Tools required
• 1/4-inch open end wrench or 4-inch long nose pliers
• 3/16-inch nut driver or open-end wrench
• #1 Phillips screwdriver
Preparation
1. If applications are assigned and running on any lines on the TMS that need to be removed,
soft terminate all applications. See
restarted on replacement of the TMS, it is not necessary to unassign them.
2. On the front control panel of the TMS to be removed, set the slot power switch to off.
3. Label and remove all cables from the DCC.
4. Remove the two screws securing the TMS to the VRC.
5. Pull outward on the two extractors on the TMS and slide the TMS out.
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the four screws from the front of the TMS Panel.
