7. Connect an RJ-45 100 Mbps (CAT-5) cable from the System Ethernet Switch to Port A
(speech-enabled systems only).
8. Configure the DCC for bootp (speech enabled systems only). For additional information, see
Configuring Network IP Addresses

System Configuration

If the upgrade is intended to add speech capability to a system that did not previously have this
feature or if the original system was already speech enabled, you must make changes to the
networking files on the Applications Processor.
Bootptab entries must be updated to replace the hardware address of the new DCC or a new entry
created for newly enabled systems. The bootptab file is used to define the IP address issued to a
client device when broadcasting a bootp request. In an enabled system, the DCC does not have a
hardcoded network IP address until a BOOTP server responds to the bootp broadcast.
Caution:
Avaya strongly recommends you save a backup copy of the bootptab file before making any
changes.
The bootptab file is in the /etc directory and is modified using a standard text editor such as vi or
emacs. For additional information, see
The following is a typical bootptab entry:
dcc3000_tms1:\
:sm=255.255.255.0:td=/tftpboot:bf=:ht=ethernet:ha=008001d
0000b:ip=192.168.101.51
You must modify the ha= field to reflect the hardware Ethernet address of the new DCC-3000. To
determine the hardware Ethernet address, see
NIC Boot ROM
on page 144.
Configuring for Speech
For information about speech-specific configuration, refer to the MPS Speech Server Installation
Guide and Release Notes. The chapter titled DCC Board Configuration addresses the following
topics: Configure DCC for Speech Server Connectivity, DCC-3000 Boot Configuration, Console Port
Cabling Bootrom Configuration, Testing, LED Definitions.
Connection to the Voice LAN
You must make a new connection from Port A of the DCC-3000 to an Ethernet Switch that is routed
to the Speech Servers. The connection requires a standard RJ-45 100 Mbps (CAT-5) Ethernet
cable. Speech-enabled systems must contain an Ethernet Switch.
