Troubleshooting
System Boot failure
1. Verify that the entry in bootp file, MAC address, and TMS file are correct. Verify that there
are no MAC or IP address conflicts.
2. Verify that the NICs booted.
3. Use the console to log into the TMS and determine the source of error in hardware or
software initialization.
4. Use the ping command for the TMS card to verify network connectivity.
5. Check the Ethernet cable and hub interfaces.
TMS health Check Fail
1. Ensure the power switch for the card is on.
2. Retrieve the alarm log (system alarms) for the slot to determine if a reset command was
received or another hardware or software fault caused the problem.
3. Verify that the TMS configuration is correct (tms.cfg). If the configuration fails, the board
resets because the TMS cannot support the number or type of resources requested.
4. Check for a networking problem, an IP conflict, a cabling problem, or a switch/hub problem.
5. If there is a NIC, ensure the card booted.

TMS Software Initialization and Loading Errors

A TMS software initialization and load errors indicates that one or more software components
required to configure the TMS is unavailable or that hardware is not responding. Software
initialization errors include the TMS runtime image (tms_860.smod), DSP(MDM), DCC images, and
any software required to configure and load a daughter card on the TMS.
