DC powered systems are not connected to the cabinet frame and must have additional safety
grounding installed.
Note:
The recommended method is to use minimum #12 AWG wire and an approved connector to
one of the four 1/4 inch copper grounding studs, see
page 46. Make this wire 2 meters or less where possible, and connect to a point referenced to
the Building Principal Ground.
The implementation of external cabinet grounding is dictated by local safety regulations and any
specific requirements indicated by the customer. These requirements can change extensively from
country to country as well as from locality to locality within these countries. Local regulations can
require that only Licensed Electricians be permitted to perform this function.
The user is responsible for providing the required information and qualified personnel to wire and
ground the MPS 1000.

Installing AC Power

For AC-powered systems, two 120V/230V branch circuits are required for each MPS 1000.
The MPS 1000 is supplied with 14.7 foot (4.5 m) cables terminated with either NEMA type L5-20P
(120V) or L6-20P (230V) plugs. The systems two 15-Amp circuit breakers are in the bottom rear of
the cabinet; therefore, the cabinet height must be subtracted for top cabled systems. Two Nema
L5-20 (120V) or two L6-20 (230V) receptacles are needed to connect the power cords. Both power
cords must be used for the system to operate properly, see
Standard Cabinet
on page 234.
Note:
Do not use ground fault circuit interrupt (GFCI) devices on MPS 1000 AC power feeds.

Installing DC Power

Caution:
Marked polarity must be observed, follow markings on the front and rear of the Power
Distribution Unit (PDU) as the manufacturer can change the design.
