LED SFT0 is the activity bit and blinks periodically (variable) during the boot sequence to indicate
that the sequence is proceeding. LED SFT7 is the error bit and does not light at any time during the
sequence. Therefore, any value >8X indicates an error condition.

approximate duration of the task, description of the task or possible errors, and corrective action for
errors. Note that under the Hex Code column, two values are shown for each task because of the
variable state of the activity bit.
Certain results depend on the boot ROM settings for the NIC. You need not connect a debug
terminal to perform these observations or diagnostics; however, if the current settings are not known
and need to be verified, see

If the system displays an error, retry the task. You can have a problem if:
• the error LEDs indicate an error
• an activity LED is steadily on or off
• a test hangs up
• a test runs for much longer than the expected time (for example, more than twice as long)
