Message
SIP Gateway 1 receives Setup from PBX A. Setup
indicates the call attempt from User A to User B.
SIP Gateway 1 sends INVITE request to a Proxy server.
INVITE request indicates the call attempt from User A to
User B. INVITE includes the media capability of SIP
Gateway1.
SIP Gateway 1 sends Call Proceeding to PBX A. Call
Proceeding indicates that SIP Gateway1 received Setup
and attempts SIP signaling call.
Proxy Server searches a proper SIP gateway and
delivers INVITE request.
Proxy Server sends 100 Trying to SIP Gateway 1. 100
Trying indicates that a proxy server is processing INVITE
request.
Upon receiving INVITE from a proxy server, Gateway 2
sends Setup to PBX B.
Upon receiving INVITE from a proxy server, SIP Gateway
2 replies with 100 Trying.
SIP Gateway 2 receives Call Proceeding from PBX B.
SIP Gateway 2 receives Alerting from PBX B.
Upon receiving Ringing, SIP Gateway 2 sends 180
Ringing to a proxy server. 180 Ringing indicates that a
callee is located at SIP Gateway 2, and the User B is
currently alerted.
Proxy Server transfers 180 Ringing to SIP Gateway 1.
Upon receiving 180 Ringing, Gateway 1 sends Alerting to
PBX A.
When a called party replies, SIP Gateway2 receives
Release Connect from PBX B.
SIP Gateway 2 sends 200 OK to Proxy Server. 200 OK
indicates the response of a called party. 200 OK includes
the media capability of SIP Gateway2.
Proxy Server 2 sends 200 OK to SIP Gateway 1.
Upon receiving 200 OK, SIP Gateway1 sends Connect to
PBX A.
SIP Gateway 1 receives Connect ACK from PBX A.
