c. Push the center pin into the head. The fastener
is locked when the pin is flush with the head.
See A, Figure 7.
LEFT SIDE COVER
Removal/Installation
The left side cover is secured in place by six Allen
bolts: two 6 × 54 mm bolts (A, Figure 8) and four 6 ×
25 mm bolts (B). A grommet, collar and washer is
used with four 6 × 25 mm bolts. Make sure these are
in place at their respective locations during assembly.
1. Remove the shift pedal/footrest assembly from
the motorcycle as described in Chapter Seven.
2. Remove each of the side cover bolts (A and B,
Figure 8) along with their washers.
3. Lift the side cover from the motorcycle.
4. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the
following:
a. Make sure a grommet and collar are in place
on the four lower mounts (B, Figure 8).
b. Install the long bolt (6 × 54 mm) at the upper
forward mounts on the cover (A, Figure 8).
Install a short bolt (6 × 25 mm) and washer at
the four lower mounts (B, Figure 8).
c. Install the shift pedal/footrest assembly as de-
scribed in Chapter Seven.
TOOLBOX COVER
Removal/Installation
1. Insert the key into the lock (Figure 9) on the
toolbox cover and turn the key clockwise.
2. Pull the cover out until the slot on the top left
edge of the cover releases from the grommet. Re-
move the cover.
