Cleaning and Inspection
1. Thoroughly clean and dry all parts. Do not use a
caustic carburetor cleaning solvent. Instead, clean
carburetor parts in a petroleum-based solvent.
Rinse them thoroughly in clean water.
CAUTION
If compressed air is not available, al
low the parts to air dry or dry them
with a clean, lint free cloth. Do not
use a paper towel to dry carburetor
parts. Small paper particles could
plug openings in the carburetor body
or jets.
CAUTION
Do not use a piece of wire to clean the
jets. Minor gouges in the jet can alter
the air/fuel mixture.
2. Allow the carburetor to dry thoroughly before
assembly and blow dry parts with compressed air.
Blow out the jets and jet holder with compressed
air.
3. Replace the jet holder O-ring (Figure 65) during
assembly.
4. Make sure the holes in all jets and holders are
clear. Clean them out if they are plugged in any way.
