NOTE
Two types of rocker arm bolts are used
in the cylinder head: one with a single
oil hole (A, Figure 5) and one with
two oil holes (B). Note that the bolt
with two oil holes (B, Figure 5) se
cures the oil pipe to the cylinder head.
b. Remove the rocker arm bolt (Figure 6) that
secures the oil pipe to the intake side of each
cylinder head. Discard the two copper wash-
ers installed with each bolt. New washers
must be used during assembly.
c. Remove the oil pipe banjo bolt (Figure 7) and
the three copper washers from the crankcase.
Discard the three copper washers.
d. Remove the oil pipes from the engine.
13. Remove the alternator cover as described in
this chapter.
14. Place a hydraulic jack under the crankcase to
support the engine once the mounting bolts are re-
moved (Figure 8).
15. Split a few lengths of coolant hose lengthwise.
Install the hoses over the left frame member (Fig-
ure 9) so the alternator cover mating surface on the
crankcase will not be damaged.
16. Loosen each of the four cylinder head bracket
nuts (A, Figure 10).
17. Remove the front engine bracket as follows:
a. Hold the nuts (A, Figure 11 and A, Figure
12) and remove the upper through bolt (B,
Figure 11) and lower through bolt (B, Figure
12).
b. Remove the engine bracket bolt from each
side (C, Figure 11 and C, Figure 12) and
lower the engine bracket from the frame. The
engine bracket bolts thread into weld nuts on
the bracket.
