5. If the reading is less than battery voltage, the
wiring between the main switch and the auxiliary
light connectors is faulty and must be repaired.
SIGNAL SYSTEM
The signal system includes the horn, turn signal
lights, brake light and indicator lights (except the
high beam indicator, which is part of the lighting
system). In the event of trouble with any of these
lights, check the affected bulb/component first. Re-
placement bulbs are listed in Table 2. If the bulb is
good, follow the signal system troubleshooting pro-
cedures listed in Chapter Two.
HORN
Removal/Installation
The horn sits on the front of the left frame mem-
ber just below the frame neck.
1. Remove the horn mounting bolt (Figure 77) and
turn the horn over.
2. Disconnect the connectors (Figure 78) from the
two spade terminals on the back of the horn and re-
move the horn.
3. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Circuit Test
Perform the following test if the horn does not
sound.
1. Check the continuity of the horn switch as de-
scribed in this chapter. Replace the left handlebar
switch if the horn switch is faulty.
2. Check the voltage on the battery side of the horn
circuit as follows:
a. Set a voltmeter to the 20 DC volt range.
b. Backprobe the connector. Connect the volt-
meter positive test lead to the brown horn ter-
minal and connect the negative test lead to a
good frame ground. See Figure 79.
c. Turn the main switch to on and check the
voltage on the meter. It should read battery
voltage.
d. If the reading is less than battery voltage, the
wiring between the main switch and the horn
is faulty.
3. Check the voltage on the ground side of the horn
circuit as follows:
