1. Clean all parts in solvent and dry them thor-
oughly with compressed air.
2. Inspect the primary body (A, Figure 68) for
cracks and inspect the primary body rotors (B) for
wear or abrasion.
3. Inspect the strainer (C, Figure 68) for tears or
other damage that will allow contaminants into the
pump.
4. Inspect the secondary body (A, Figure 69) for
cracks and inspect the secondary body rotors (B) for
wear or abrasion.
5. Install each outer and inner rotor into its respec-
tive body.
6. Use a flat gauge to measure the clearance be-
tween the tip of the inner rotor and the outer rotor

7. Use a flat feeler gauge to measure the clearance
between the outer rotor and the oil pump body (B,
Figure 70).
8. Measure the pump rotor depth, which is the dis-
tance from the top of the pump body to the top of the
rotors (C, Figure 70).
9. Replace the oil pump if any measurement ex-
ceeds the service limit in Table 1.
10. Inspect the oil pump cover (A, Figure 71) for
cracks, and inspect the oil pump shaft (B) for wear
or abrasion.
11. Replace the pump if any of the above parts are
worn or damaged. Replacement parts are not avail-
able.
12. Inspect the teeth on the oil pump driven
sprocket (A, Figure 72). Replace the sprocket if
any teeth are worn or broken. Also inspect the oil
pump drive sprocket on the crankshaft. Replace the
driven sprocket, drive chain and drive sprocket as a
set.
