NOTE
On USA, California and Canada
models, the flasher relay connector is
a five pin connector. A three pin con
nector is used on Europe and Austra
lia models.
1. Remove the fuel tank, air filter housing and
surge tank as described in Chapter Eight.
2. Remove the frame neck covers (Chapter Four-
teen).
3. Remove the starting circuit cutoff relay (A, Fig-
ure 85) from its mounting tang, then remove the
flasher relay (B).
4. Disconnect the connector (C, Figure 85) from
the flasher relay.
5. Installation is the reverse of removal.

NEUTRAL INDICATOR LIGHT
Circuit Test
1. Remove the fuel tank (Chapter Eight) and dis-
connect the meter assembly connector (Figure 87)
from its harness mate.
2. Check the voltage in the circuit as follows:
a. Set a voltmeter to the 20 DC volt range.
b. Connect the voltmeter positive test lead to the
brown terminal in the harness side of the me-
ter assembly connector (A, Figure 89). Con-
nect the voltmeter negative test lead to the
connector's sky blue terminal (B, Figure 89).
c. Shift the transmission into neutral, turn the
main switch to on, and check the voltage on
the meter. It should read battery voltage.
d. If the reading is less than battery voltage, the
wiring between the main switch and the meter
connector is faulty.
OIL LEVEL INDICATOR LIGHT

Indicator Test

1. Remove the oil level relay (A, Figure 90) as de-
scribed in this chapter and disconnect the four-pin
connector (B) from the relay.
2. Check the continuity of the oil level relay as
follows:
a. Use jumper wires to connect the battery posi-
tive terminal to the red/white terminal in the
oil level relay (A, Figure 91). Connect the
battery negative terminal to the relay's
black/red terminal (B).
b. Connect the ohmmeter's positive test probe to
the black/white terminal in the oil level relay
