A turn signal light and/or
turn signal indicator fails to flash
1. Check the continuity of the affected turn signal
bulb and socket.
2. Check the continuity of the bulb and socket for
the turn signal indicator light.
3. Check the continuity of the turn signal switch
(Chapter Nine).
4. Perform the turn signal flash test (Chapter Nine).
The neutral indicator light
does not turn on
1. Check the continuity of the bulb and socket for
the neutral indicator light.
2. Check the continuity of the neutral switch
(Chapter Nine).
3. Perform the neutral indicator circuit test in
Chapter Nine.
The oil level light does not turn on
1. Check the continuity of the bulb and socket for
the oil level indicator light.
2. Check the continuity of the oil level switch
(Chapter Nine).
3. Perform the oil level indicator test (Chapter
Nine).
FRONT SUSPENSION
AND STEERING
Poor handling may be caused by improper tire
pressure, a damaged/bent frame or front steering
components, a worn front fork assembly, worn
wheel bearings or dragging brakes.
Steering is Sluggish
1. Incorrect steering stem adjustment (too tight).
2. Improperly installed upper or lower fork bridge.
3. Damaged steering head bearings.
4. Tire pressure too low.
5. Worn or damaged tire.
Steering to One Side
1. Bent front or rear axle.
2. Bent frame or fork.
3. Worn or damaged wheel bearings.
4. Worn or damaged swing arm pivot bearings.
5. Damaged steering head bearings.
6. Bent swing arm.
7. Incorrectly installed wheels.
8. Front and rear wheels are not aligned.
9. Uneven front fork adjustment.
10. Fork legs positioned unevenly in the fork
bridges.

Front Suspension Noise

1. Loose mounting fasteners.
2. Damaged fork or rear shock absorber.
3. Low fork oil capacity.

Wheel Wobble/Vibration

1. Loose front or rear axle.
2. Loose or damaged wheel bearing(s).
3. Damaged wheel rim(s).
4. Damaged tire(s).
5. Loose swing arm pivot bolt.
6. Unbalanced tire and wheel.
7. Loose spokes.

Hard Suspension (Front Fork)

1. Insufficient tire pressure.
2. Damaged steering head bearings.
3. Incorrect steering head bearing adjustment.
4. Bent fork tubes.
5. Binding slider.
6. Incorrect weight fork oil.
7. Plugged fork oil passage.
8. Worn or damaged fork tube bushing or slider
bushing.
9. Damaged damper rod.
Hard Suspension (Rear Shock Absorber)
1. Excessive rear tire pressure.
2. Bent or damaged shock absorber.
3. Incorrect shock adjustment.
4. Damaged shock absorber bushing(s).
5. Damaged swing arm pivot bearings.
6. Poorly lubricated suspension components.
