8. Disconnect the ends of the throttle cables from
the throttle drum (A, Figure 103), and remove the
pull and return cables from the switch housing.
9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the
following:
a. Apply lithium soap grease to the ends of the
pull and return cables.
b. The pin on the switch housing (B, Figure
103) must engage the hole in the handlebar.
c. Apply a dielectric grease to the electrical con-
nectors prior to reconnecting them.
d. Make sure the electrical connectors are free
of corrosion and the two sides are securely
connected to each other.
e. Use cable ties to secure the switch cable to the
places noted during removal.
f. Securely tighten the pull cable mounting
screw.
g. Adjust the throttle cable free play as de-
scribed in Chapter Three.

Main Switch Replacement

1. Remove the fuel tank and surge tank as de-
scribed in Chapter Eight.
2. Remove the frame neck covers as described in
Chapter Fourteen.
3. Disconnect the switch's red, four-pin connector
(A, Figure 104) from its mate on the wiring har-
ness. On Europe models, disconnect the two-pin
and four-pin connectors from their harness mates.
4. Remove the plug (B, Figure 104) from each
mounting bolt and remove the two main switch
mounting bolts. Remove the switch from the frame.
5. Installation is the reverse of these steps. Note the
following:
