4. Note the location of any clamps (A, Figure 12)
or cable ties that secure wires or the brake line to the
swing arm. Release the lines from the clamps and
suspend the rear brake caliper safely out of the way.
NOTE
The swing arm pivot bolt threads into
the swing arm. It does not go all the
way through to the left side so it can
not be driven out of the pivot. The
pivot bolt (B, Figure 12) has a 6 mm
internal thread so it can be removed
with a slide hammer.
5. Loosen the swing arm pivot bolt (Figure 13).
6. Use a slide hammer to remove the pivot bolt. If a
slide hammer is unavailable, turn the 6 mm bolt
(Figure 14) into the threads in the pivot bolt. Grab
the bolt with a pair of pliers and strike the pliers
with a hammer to remove the pivot bolt.
7. Remove the swing arm from the frame.
8. Remove the thrust cover (Figure 15) and its
washer from the swing arm pivot on the each side of
the frame.
9. Remove the collar (A, Figure 16) from the
frame.
10. Inspect the swing arm as described in this chap-
ter.
Installation
1. Apply molybdenum disulfide grease to the bear-
ing (B, Figure 16) on each side of the frame pivot.
2. Lubricate the thrust cover washer (A, Figure 17)
with molybdenum disulfide grease and install the

3. Install the thrust cover (Figure 15) onto the
frame pivot on the right side.
