3. Remove the cover bolts (A, Figure 10) and pull
the air filter cover (B) from the housing.
4. Lift the air filter (A, Figure 11) from the posts in
the air filter housing.
5. Loosen the clamp (B, Figure 11) that secures the
surge tank duct to the back of the air filter housing.
6. Remove the air filter housing bolts (A, Figure
12) and washers.
7. Grasp the air filter housing (B, Figure 12) and
pull the housing out until the post (A, Figure 13) on
the back of the housing disengages from the grom-
met (B) in the air filter bracket.
8. Disengage the drain hose (C, Figure 13) from
the bracket on the clutch cover, and remove the air
filter housing.
9. Stuff a rag into the surge tank duct (A, Figure
14) so dirt or other contaminants cannot enter the
duct while the housing is removed.
10. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the
following:
a. Make sure the drain hose (C, Figure 13) is se-
cured to the holder of the bracket on the
clutch cover.
b. Press the housing toward the engine until the
housing post (A, Figure 13) engages the
grommet (B) on the air filter bracket. Make
sure the surge tank duct engages the port on
the back of the housing.
c. Tighten the surge tank clamp (B, Figure 11)
securely.
d. Tighten the air filter housing bolts (A, Figure
12) to 10 N•m (89 in.-lb.).
e. Install the air filter (A, Figure 11) so the
notches on the filter engage the posts on the
air filter housing.
f. Tighten the air filter cover bolts (A, Figure
10) to 2 N•m (18 in.-lb.).
