13. Install sun gear shaft, with long splined end down.
and bearings as follows and retain with petrolatum
(Fig. 7E- 139):
14. Install reaction carrier (Fig. 7E-142).
a. Place small diameter race against internal gear, with . ,
-
center flange facing up.
b. Place bearing on race.
c. Place second race on bearing, with outer flange
cupped over bearing.
7. Install output shaft into output carrier (Fig. 7E-140).
8. Install output shaft to output carrier snap ring.
CAUTION: The 1969 output shaft to output carrier
snap ring is flat and thinner then pre-1969 snap rings.
The change in design of the 1969 snap ring required a
change in the groove of the output carrier. The 1969flat
snap ring and the pre-1969 snap ring (with one side
beveled) are not interchangeable.

9. Turn assembly over and support so that output shaft
hangs downward.
10. Install reaction carrier to output carrier plastic
thrust washer, with tabs facing down in pockets and
