Installing Direct Clutch Housing to
Backing Plate Snap Ring
12. Install sprag assembly into outer race.
13. With ridge or shoulder on inner cage down, start
sprag and outer race over inner race with clockwise
turning motion (Fig. 7E-107).
NOTE: Outer race should not turn counterclockwise
ajer installation (Fig. 7E-108).
14. Install sprag bushing over sprag, cup side down.
15. Install clutch retainer (Fig. 7E-109) and snap ring
(Fig. 7E-1 lo).
16. Place direct clutch assembly over center support
and air check operation of direct clutch (Fig. 7E-111).

NOTE: If air is applied through reverse passage (right
oil feed hole), it will escape from direct clutch passage
(left oil feed hole). This is considered normal. Applying
air through direct clutch passage ( 1 4 oil feed hole) will
activate piston and move direct clutch.
CASE CENTER SUPPORT
DISASSEMBLY OF CENTER SUPPORT
1. Remove four (4) hook type oil seal rings from center
support.
2. Using your fingers, compress spring retainer and
remove snap ring.
