Access Control Lists (ACL)

You can use access control lists to control which packets are authorized to pass through an
interface. When a packet matches a rule on the access control list, the rule specifies whether
the W310:
Accepts the packet or drops the packet
Sends an ICMP error reply if it drops the packet
Sends an SNMP trap if it drops the packet
An ACL is implemented as follows:
Has an index range of 300 to 399 with 300 the default.
The default of 300 is read-only and cannot be modified.
ACL list cannot be modified while it is in use.
Access lists have the following parts:
Global rules — a set of rules that are executed before the list is evaluated
Rule list — a list of filtering rules and actions for the W310 to take when a packet
matches the rule. Match actions on this list are pointers to the composite operation table.
Actions (composite operation table) — a table that describes actions to be performed
when a packet matches a rule. The table includes pre-defined actions such as permit and
deny. You can configure more complex rules. See

Quality of Service (QoS) Lists

You can use QoS lists to change the DSCP and Ethernet IEEE 802.1p CoS fields in packets.
When a packet matches a rule on the QoS list, the W310 sets one or both of the QoS fields in
the packet. The following table shows these QoS fields:

Each QoS list also includes a DSCP table. The DSCP table enables you to set one or both of
the QoS fields in a packet based on the previous value of the DSCP field in the packet.
