Eye Contact
Wear Eye Protection: High vapor concentration may cause irritation. Safety goggles should be worn to prevent
accidental splashes of material into the eyes. If material comes in contact with the eye, flush immediately
with large amounts of COLD water for 15 minutes. Avoid sunlight, fluorescent light, and other ultraviolet
light, and obtain immediate medical attention. Eye-wash facilities and a first-aid kit should be readily
available and close to the material.
Contact Lenses
If material splashes into the eye when contact lenses are worn, flush the eye with water immediately. Verify that flushing has
removed the contact lens from the eye. Protect eyes from light and obtain immediate medical attention. Discard contact lenses
that come into contact with liquid material.
Fume Inhalation
Inhaling fumes from material is irritating to the respiratory system. High atmospheric concentrations may lead to irritation of
the respiratory tract, dizziness, headache and anesthetic effects. Do not operate the Figure 4 Modular without its carbon filter
in place. For most materials, normal operation of the Printer with filter in place should not emit fumes. If a person should
inhale fumes, bring the exposed person to fresh air. Perform CPR if required. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen and obtain
immediate medical attention for the person.
Ingestion
If a person ingests material, get medical attention immediately. Immediately rinse the person's mouth and have him/her drink
plenty of water.

2.8 Safety Notice

CAUTION: Use of controls or adjustments, or performance of procedures other than those contained in the
operation, maintenance or any other manual provided with this machine may result in hazardous radiation
exposure.
Note: Closed radiation-projection products are not considered to be hazardous.
The Figure 4 Modular Printer incorporates a protective housing and radiation-protective access doors, such that there is no
exposure or human access to the radiation generated by the radiation projector during normal operation. The print engines
were evaluated to IEC 62471 and classified as Risk Group 2. This means the optical radiation is only a moderate risk and does
not pose a hazard due to aversion response to bright light or thermal discomfort. However, it is still good practice not to stare
directly into a projector, particularly when running the machine with empty resin trays.
All service to the light-projection process machines and other components requiring safety switch override shall only be
performed by 3D Systems service personnel, their authorized agents, or personnel who have been service-trained by 3D
Systems.

2.9 Label Installation Diagram

The Figure 4 Modular has many warning labels throughout. This section details what those warning labels are, how many of
each warning label is on each system module, and the locations of each type of label. It is important to use the machine with
extreme caution to avoid situations that may be hazardous. The numbers in the Item column below correspond to the numbers
in the images that follow.
