3.3.2.2 Material Delivery Module (MDM)
Each Printer has one Material Delivery Module (MDM), which contains a material cartridge and supplies material to the resin
tray via a pump and material-delivery tube. When your cartridge is close to being empty, the Controller GUI and Printer GUI will
let you know so that you can prepare to install a new material cartridge.
WARNING: THE SYSTEM OPERATOR IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO MODIFY THE MDM CONFIGURATION, UNLESS
SPECIFICALLY AUTHORIZED BY 3D SYSTEMS TO DO SO. ONLY A 3D SYSTEMS CERTIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIAN
IS PERMITTED TO MAKE SUCH MODIFICATIONS. IF THE OPERATOR ATTEMPTS SUCH CHANGES, IT RISKS
IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM.
MDM Components
Your MDM may have a different layout, depending on the type of material pump and MCO your printer has. Both versions are
seen below:
3D Systems, Inc.
Catch-Tray Glass - Allows optical radiation to pass
A
through the catch tray to the bottom layer of
material.
Collection Areas - The catch tray is designed such
B
that any material spilled over it will be channeled
into these areas.
Catch-Tray Rail Catch - Allows the catch tray to
A
ride along the catch tray rails on the underside of
the printer chassis
Catch-Tray Slider Stop - This allows the catch
B
tray to stop moving forward when the tray has
reached its rear limit during installation.
