Encoder Feedback Overview
3.3 Encoder
Feedback
Interfaces
The encoder feedback interface is a modular board installed on the control
card of the drive, depending on the encoder type. If the encoder interface
is pre-installed by the factory, it will be denoted in the 10th digit of the drive
material number (e.g., 20F5A1H-RLBB). The encoder feedback interface
board will have two ports, X3A and X3B. Various options are available for
each port, with each combination having a unique indicator in the part num-
ber digit.
The primary channel X3A will be the input connection from the motor en-
coder. The following encoder interface types are available:
• Incremental, TTL (screw terminal strip or subD)
• Incremental, HTL (screw terminal strip or subD)
• EnDat
• Sin/Cos
• SSi
• Hiperface
• UVW
• Resolver
• BiSS / EnDat 2.2
The secondary channel X3B can be either an emulated output of the en-
coder input or a secondary input (e.g., hoistway position, governor encoder,
etc.). The following input and output types are available:
• Incremental, TTL output (screw terminal strip or subD)
• Incremental, TTL input (screw terminal strip or subD)
• SSi input
ONLY when the inverter is switched off and the voltage
supply is disconnected may the feedback connectors be
removed or connected!
