1.4.1 Board Overview

This section describes types, structures, and mappings of boards and rules for numbering
board/subcard slots and interfaces.

1.4.1.1 Types and Mappings of Boards

This section describes the board types supported by the USG9500 and mappings between
boards and cards.
The USG9500 supports the following types of boards:

a. The width does not include the size of attached mounting ear.
b. The height is 1 U (1 U = 1.75 inches, or about 44.45 mm), which is a height unit defined in
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60297 standards.
c. The measurement point of the temperature and humidity is 1.5 m above the floor and 0.4 m in front of
the cabinet without the front and the back doors.
d. The heat dissipation system allows the device to operate at the ambient temperature for a short time
as long as, at the time of failure, the system has not been operating continuously for more than 96 hours
and the accumulated operation time of the system per year does not exceed 15 days.
MPU/SRU
The USG9500 MPU/SRU has an integrated board structure. It controls the system in a
centralized manner and learns routing information. It is the system's control center.
SFU
The USG9500 SFU has an integrated board structure. It is responsible for data switching
between boards.
SPU
The USG9500 SPU has a flexible plug-in card (FPIC) structure. It is responsible for
processing security services in a centralized manner.
An FPIC SPU consists of two parts: mother board and FPIC. The USG9500 provides
multiple types of SPUs with different performance. An SPU motherboard can hold one
or two Service Processing Cards (SPCs).
LPU
The USG9500 LPU uses either an FPIC or integrated board structure and provides
network interfaces externally.
