Roller Pumps
Check the Start-up Test
When the system power is first turned on, a self-test is conducted. If the self-test
fails, a message is displayed on the pump display and the CCM. Try turning the
system off then on to repeat the start up check. If the message appears again and
remains on the display, do not use the pump. Contact Terumo Customer Service.
The pump display will be determined by the pump state. Offline indicates the pump
is not assigned to the current Perfusion Screen or a Perfusion Screen has not been
opened. Online indicates the pump is assigned to the current Perfusion Screen.

"READY: CHECK DIRECTION" is displayed when the pump cannot verify that its
default forward direction matches the system direction.

No message is displayed if the pump has verified that its default forward direction
matches the system direction.
WARNING: Always check the direction of rotation before starting a backup or
standby roller pump to make sure that the roller pump default direction matches
the system direction. Retrograde pumping MAY CAUSE SEVERE PATIENT
INJURY OR DEATH by drawing air into the bloodline which might then be
pumped into the patient.
