16. Check the operation of the assembled universal
joint by rotating it in the bearing caps it should move
freely with no binding. An acceptable practice is to
strike the sides of the yoke with a soft face hammer
to "set" the yoke on the bearing caps (the yoke may
have tension on it from being compressed in the
vise).
