Section 4 Troubleshooting the
Ignition System failure
If the ignition system does not work (No spark)
Check:
1. Spark plug
2. Ignition spark clearance
3. Resistence value of spark plug cap
4. Resistence value of ignition coil
5. Engine stop switch
•Remove the following parts before trouble-
shooting
1) Cushion
2) Front frame
3) Front fender
• Check and repair with the following tools
1. Spark plug
• Check the spark plug condition
• Check the spark plug type
• Check the spark plug clearance
Refer to chapter 3 "Check the spark plug"
Spark plug clearance
0.6~0.7mm (0.024~0.028in)
Correct
6. Main switch
7. Resistence value of triggering coil
8. Resistence value of charge coil
9. Circuit connection (entire ignition system)
Power spark tester:
Igntion tester:
Pocket multimeter:
Standard spark plug

Repair or replace spark plug
